The historical circumstances (material, technical, bureaucratic, legal) in which the extermination of the Jews had occurred were sufficiently clarified. Different is the situation with regard to the ethical and political significance of the extermination, or even the human understanding of what has happened, that is, ultimately, its actuality: what prevents Agamben from feeling satisfied with the juridical pseudosolution of the "Holocaust problem", starting from the reduction of the phenomenon to a crime or an unknowable monstrosity. "The whole truth is far more tragic and scaring".
